GB3YS & GB7YS are located in the Town of Yeovil, in South Somerset.
GB7YS being a NEW addition, in 2017. While GB3YS has been around for 40+ years.
Until the end of April 2018, the systems and antennas were installed on the roof of the main building at Yeovil College, who had been kind enough to provide the facilities needed for housing the repeater equipment for almost 21 years. Unfortunately due to safety issues effecting the roof itself, the installation has had to be removed.
Both GB3YS & GB7YS are the subject of 'Change of Site' applications, to OFCOM, via the RSGB ETCC committee.
GB3YS still has a few loose end to be sorted before formal submission.
It is hoped that as both the new proposed sites are well within 2km of the college site, that they will be approved under the existing 'fast track' process. Thus ensuring that both repeaters can return to service, sooner rather than later.
The current status of the GB7YS application can be seen, HERE.
Members of the Yeovil Amateur Radio Club, celebrating their 72nd Anniversary in 2018, provide support and assistance for the repeater systems.
Information on the YARC can be found on their web site, and via their Facebook page here.
Lindars Radios, a supplier of Amateur Radio Equipment based in Yeovil, also provides support for the repeater systems.
Financial support to keep the systems going is achieved principally via individual users donations.
Further information on making donations can be obtained via the contact page on this web site, at this time.
